How far would you go to land the leading role? Anne Hathaway has resorted to extreme crash dieting for her latest role Fantine in Les Miserables. The Devil wears Prada star has restricted her overall calorie intake to fewer than 500 a day, the recommended daily allowance is around 2,000.
And that’s not the worst of it… she has less than 20 days to lose 16 pounds, talk about the pressure is on!
Eating no more than a few apples and a protein shake a day, Anne knows that she is putting her body under great health risks by following such an extreme diet, and has excepted weekly medical checks alongside of being assigned a personal trainer.

Extreme Crash Diet For Anne Hathaway
Anne has been ordered by movie execs to shed 16lb in less than 20 days so director Tom Hooper can shoot the tragic
character’s death bed scenes.
The Devil Wears Prada star, 29, is currently a size 10, which has been fine for shooting scenes before single mum and prostitute Fantine falls gravely ill.
Now, rather than eating the recommended dietary allowance of around 2,000 calories a day, Anne is consuming fewer than 500.
By the end of filming she will be an emaciated size six. My film set source says: “Anne is playing a destitute factory worker-come-lady of the night.
“Unfortunately, she only has 15 to 20 days to lose as much weight as possible – up to a stone-and-a-half – because she’s been filming the scenes showing her fit and healthy, almost slightly chubby.
“It’s not ideal but, as with any high-budget movie, there are strict time constraints. Original story posted here.
I’d be lucky if a couple of apples will curb my appetite as a snack let alone survive on that for up to 20 days. I’m no health expert and I’m sure Anne Hathaway has looked into the possible consequences. After all why would you need regular medical check ups, surely a diet like this could have high possibilities of long-term health detrimental affects. One that springs to mind is organ damage, due to lack of nutrients.

My friend is doing lighter life and cal intake in 500 too. I’m very worried for her as this is the second time she is doing it, after losing over 5 st she put 3 back on and she decided to do this diet again. I don’t feel it is healthy and I would not do it.
